Demos/bootlegsA copy of something commonly (mis)labelled as "Temple of the Dog demos" is available on several Soundgarden bootlegs, most notably Supermainstream. The tracks featured are "Angel on Fire," "Black Cat," and "Reach Down." We would argue that this could not be the actual Temple Of The Dog demo, in that the story is very clear on this point: Chris Cornell wrote and recorded "Say Hello 2 Heaven" and "Reach Down," and played them to Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard to enlist their participation in the project.
We are reasonably certain that the version of "Reach Down" on those boots is a Temple demo. However, we don't know for sure if it's from the Chris Cornell solo demos, or a later version featuring the full Temple lineup.
More information about this song, as well as an MP3 of the demo version of "Reach Down" is available on the Five Horizons website, as part of their June 1997 Song of the Month.
